VNA Hospice provides bereavement support to the patient’s family members, caregivers and friends for a minimum of 14 months after the death of a patient, or as long as necessary. Because grief is a normal response to loss, our bereavement team offers emotional support and coping skills for those experiencing this life-changing event.
The VNA Bereavement Center is located in our Olyphant office, which offers privacy for one-on-one counseling.
Monthly support groups are provided to help those attending understand what is happening to them as they cope with their grief, to appreciate their grieving as a normal and healthy process, and to know how faith can play a role in this process. Members of the community who may not have been served by VNA are always welcome at our support groups and may request individual counseling.
All bereavement counseling is provided by our licensed counselors and social workers. Bereavement services are free of charge.

VNA Hospice holds two annual Memorial Services, in May and December, with staff members, area pastors, priests and participating rabbis. Our hope is to offer peace and comfort and to honor those for whom we have had the privilege of serving.
Each November, which is "National Hospice Month", a Tree Lighting is held on the front lawn of the Olyphant office to memorialize each patient we cared for in the prior year. The lights remain lit throughout the holiday season as a symbol of remembrance.
