Inpatient Unit

We are the original Visiting Nurse Association proudly serving Northeastern Pennsylvania for over 100 years.

Our VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit located at Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA is available when special needs arise. Our goal is for the patient to remain at home. However, if symptoms become difficult to manage in the home our hospice inpatient unit is always an option.

Fully staffed and family and pet-friendly, the unit offers a full kitchen, laundry facilities, and accommodations for family members who wish to spend the night. Visiting hours are unlimited, with no age restrictions.

Patients are admitted for three levels of care:

• General inpatient care for patients who require admission to the IPU for pain or symptom management.
• Inpatient respite care to relieve the caregiver at home.
• Residential inpatient hospice care provides a residential setting for patients with a limited prognosis. The Room & Board fee is not covered by Medicare or other insurance.
